FAQ

Varför kommer pimpsten något fuktig?
Pimpsten har en naturlig fukthalt. Fukten är nödvändig för god växttillväxt med detta material.
Om pimpstenen är helt torr kommer den inte längre att absorbera vatten och kan dra fukt från din växts rötter.

Hur använder jag pimpsten för att förhindra svampmyggor?
Du kan lägga ett tunt lager av pimpsten på din jord som ett toppskikt för att förhindra svampmyggor och andra jordburna insekter.
Svampmyggor lägger sina ägg i det översta jordlagret. Ett lager av pimpsten blockerar deras väg, så de kan inte nå jorden och lägga ägg!

Vad är skillnaden mellan pimpsten och perlit för krukväxter?
Den största skillnaden mellan pimpsten och perlit är att pimpsten är mycket tyngre. Den håller också kvar mer fukt och näringsämnen än perlit.
Det är bättre för blandningar som behöver vikt och bra dränering, som kaktus- och suckulentblandningar.

Why THIS Pumice compared to others?

Mycket ren, jämfört med vanlig pimpsten som har andra vulkaniska stenar och korn.

Origin of our Pumice

Pimpsten kommer från Tyskland vid Vulkaniska Eifel. Endast en liten del av vulkanen bryts åt gången. Därefter återställs det tomma området med ren jord som blivit över från andra byggprojekt. Sedan planteras inhemska träd och växter tillbaka på brytningsplatsen för att låta djurlivet återhämta sig.

Det är i Tyskland, nära Nederländerna. Detta gör leveranskedjan mycket kort. Pimpstenen tvättas, men vattnet återanvänds upp till 100 gånger innan det byts ut. Allt som allt ett ganska bra val.

Bought 9mm pumice which arrived promptly. All bags had condensation inside showing substrate was damp so needed opening and drying.

So this is actually done on purpose. We would love to ship it dry as it saves on shipping cost but slightly moist pumice is so that when it's used in soil, the first time you put it in it might actually draw water out of the roots, especially if you don't water for the first time. This can damage the roots.

That's why it's slightly damp, so it cost us more work to do it this way but we feel it's better for the plants!
